The question

What if students learned software by building real things earlier?

I have taught plenty of people who follow a tutorial fine and then freeze the moment there are no instructions. That gap is what Programmify is aimed at.

Context

Programmify started as a way to teach software engineering with practical experience attached, so students leave with working software rather than a set of explained concepts. Teaching made one thing obvious: people need structure, feedback, repetition and visible proof that they are improving, not more information.

Building it

The work has included teaching, curriculum design, project guidance, mentoring and product experiments. The parts that hold up are the ones that connect learning to output:

  • Building real projects instead of isolated exercises
  • Explaining concepts slowly enough that students notice where they get stuck
  • Helping students debug their own thinking
  • Treating communication as part of engineering
  • Making progress visible

What surprised me

Teaching made me a better builder. When you explain something, you find out fast which ideas only sound simple because you already understand them, and confusion turns out to have a repeatable shape you can design around.

What I learned

Learning software is emotional and social as much as technical. People need permission to be beginners and enough pressure to keep moving, and that balance shapes how I think about PeerDrift, FastCV and OpenBuildLab.
